Emotions in Monochrome
‘Heimat. A Sense of Belonging’, the newly-inaugurated exhibition that’s hosted at Milan’s Armani/Silos and heartily dedicated to German photographer Peter Lindbergh, celebrates the affinities between two creative visionaries. In fact, the mutual search for true, honest beauty allowed Lindbergh and Mr. Armani to successfully collaborate, giving birth to striking images.
On the 21st of February, during MFW-Milan Fashion Week, Italian designer and entrepreneur Giorgio Armani presented ‘Heimat. A Sense of Belonging’, a new art exhibition about German photographer Peter Lindbergh’s artworks. Hosted at Milan’s Armani/Silos and curated by Mr. Armani together with the Peter Lindbergh Foundation, the show takes its name from German word ‘heimat’ (in English ‘home’, ‘the place one belongs’), recalling Lindbergh’s first aesthetic reference and source of inspiration, that’s the industrial landscapes of Duisburg (Germany). This perspective-changing exhibition features a selection of published and unpublished photographs, divided into three different sections: ‘The Naked Truth’, ‘Heimat’ and ‘The Modern Heroine’. From the portrait of top model Kate Moss (Paris, 2015) and Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal (New York, 2019) to the photograph of Tatjana Patitz taken in Le Touquet (France) back in the 80’s. Peter Lindbergh’s unique point of view, love for honestly raw beauty and understanding of the feminine universe show through all the displayed works. ’I have always admired Peter for the consistency and intensity of his work. Timelessness is a quality I personally aspire to, and one that Peter definitely possessed. With this exhibition at Armani/Silos I want to play tribute to a wonderful professional companion whose love for beauty represents an indelible contribution to our culture, not just to fashion’, said Mr. Armani about Lindbergh and the newly-opened exhibition. Heimat. A Sense of Belonging will be on display, at the ground floor of Armani/Silos, from February 22 to August 2, don’t miss your chance to let yourself be inspired by the moving artworks of this photography master!
