SPAZIO MAIOCCHI – MILAN
RE-CUT: The ‘Théâtre de la Mode’ 2.0

Toogood and Carhartt WIP have blended their designs to create a brand-new project.

It’s almost like going back to the mid-forties when, right after WW2, ‘Le Théâtre de la Mode’ was an exhibition travelling all around Europe to let people see the new creations coming from the heart of the fashion system, Paris.

If there was a 2.0 version of ‘Le Théâtre de la Mode’, it’d surely be the collaboration between Toogood and Carhartt WIP. Melting their heritage and know-how, the two labels have explored and investigated a mutual admiration for what can be defined as high- quality design that stands the test of time. The installation coming from London will be visible at Spazio Maiocchi (Via Achille Maiocchi 7, Milan) from the 6th to the 12th of June and consist of three standing puppets wearing oversized pieces from the unisex capsule collection created by the brands, available to order from June 7.

The result is a mix of garments that stand for functionality, workwear, and neutrality, and are made in Carhartt WIP’s trademark organic cotton.

And if you believe that’s all, well, that’s not. Indeed, exclusively for the first time at Salone del Mobile, new furniture pieces by Toogood and a monographic book entitled ‘Faye Toogood: Drawing, Material, Sculpture, Landscape’ published by Phaidon on June 30 will be previewed. So, if you’re here in Milan, don’t miss this unique opportunity and go visit Spazio Maiocchi! We’ll see you there.

‘Carhartt WIP gave us permission to cut, hack and remodel these archetypal utility products and link them closer to a sculptural Toogood fit. Combining our aesthetic and cutting style with Carhartt WIP’s construction skill and capacity has been a proud moment for us, resulting in an accessible, durable and iconic product’, said Erica Toogood.
